Oils in skincare, revisited.
Using oils as part of a skincare routine is nothing new. Before soap and other cosmetics were commercially produced, oils were favored for cleansing and hydrating skin. And it's true: skin friendly oils are the perfect addition to your skincare routine, and they are sure to leave you feeling and looking your best at every step!
As a cleanser.
Using an oil cleanser has recently had renewed interest, due in part to the Korean skincare inspired double cleanse. And with good reason: cleansing with oils will remove every bit of makeup, dirt and other impurities on your skin without over-stripping. Oil cleansing may even be safe for oily and acne prone skins since an oil cleanser does not irritate skin-some even claim that oil cleansing has cleared their stubborn breakouts! Payot Herbier Face and Eye Cleansing Oil contains organic olive oil and sunflower oil to remove makeup like magic and leave your skin feeling soothed and oh-so-soft!
As a mask.
If you ever read an article that convinced you to make a DIY mask with Avocado and other kitchen ingredients, you’re not alone. Turns out, those mask recipes might be onto something! An oil-based mask gives your skin a much-needed boost of hydration and provides essential nutrients and antioxidants. Luzern L’Essentials Emulsion 6 (formerly La Nuit Hydra Cleansing emulsion) contains 6 deeply nourishing oils and can be used in three ways: as a luxurious skin cleanser, as a deeply moisturizing and soothing face mask- and as a face oil to give skin that selfie-worthy glow!
As a serum.
Oil serums are the perfect addition to your serum regimen. They lock in hydration, soothe and soften skin, even out your complexion, and may even help fight inflammation and acne breakouts. Jojoba oil specifically most closely resembles our skin’s natural oils to balance and protect. Luzern’s Serum Absolut Sublime Oil contains Jojoba oil as well as RoseHip Oil to regenerate skin cells and repair damaged skin tissue. Smooth on a few drops after your water-based serums and before your moisturizer.
As a moisturizer.
If you are looking at streamlining your skincare routine, an oil might be right for you. A facial oil can be used in tandem with or in lieu of your regular moisturizer. Payot Herbier Facial Beauty Oil is made to be used on its own or with a moisturizer. Everlasting flower oil has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties while organic olive and sunflower oils nourish and regulate hydration.
As a hair and body oil.
Perhaps the most popular incarnation of oil in skincare is body oil. Fans of body oil love how quickly it absorbs and how it leaves their skin touchably soft and never greasy. Body oil is also beneficial to your skin- it increases collagen production and has antioxidant properties. It may also help soothe certain skin conditions- such as eczema. Mary Cohr Exquisite Oil contains Camelina Oil which is rich in antioxidant Omega fatty acids and will leave your skin and hair soft, luminous, and gently fragranced.
